Tuesday, May 12, 2015 - 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM
2300 Market Street, Mount Vernon, WA 98273-5449

Do you work with or serve the immigrant community and have questions about the immigration system, immigration enforcement, or how immigration issues affect your clients and their families? The Skagit Immigrant Rights Council is hosting a training in Mount Vernon by Jorge Barón, Executive Director of Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, for social service providers and others interested in learning more about this important topic. Administrators and elected officials are also encouraged to attend to learn how their decisions and service models impact our immigrant community.

The training will include an overview of the immigration system and immigration status.

We will also answer questions such as:

- Who will qualify for the President's new actions on immigration?
- What barriers prevent immigrants from accessing services?
- What happens when people are detained by immigration authorities?
- What protections are available to immigrant victims of crime or survivors of violence?
- What resources are available in the community to help?

NWIRP's Yearly Events

NWIRP's Anniversary Celebration is a fun reception featuring live music/entertainment, drinks and dinner along with a short program. During the program, both NWIRP's Golden Door Award and its Amicus Award are presented and there is often a mini-live auction! The event helps raise funds for NWIRP's critical legal services and broadens our circle of friends. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary on May 9th, 2014. Check out photos from the event here!

NWIRP Presents: An Evening At...  is a family-friendly reception held at a local point of interest and immigrant culture. The event gives attendees a chance to explore the intersection of NWIRP's work with its meaning in the broader community through rich cultural experience. Our last event was held at the beautiful Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience on Thursday, October 16th, 2014.
